Sustainability
Tregoose Old Mill is situated in a picturesque wooded valley along the river Porth in the North Cornwall countryside. We are fortunate to be surrounded by farms, nature, and wildlife which inspires us to care for our future diligently.
Cleaning & Procurement
We offer guests Ecover cleaning products that are rich in biodegradable elements, allowing them to positively impact the environment during their stay. Our bamboo eco-friendly toilet rolls come from Who Gives a Crap, which donates 50% of profits to improve sanitation in developing countries.
Guest toiletries are provided by Noble Isle, from high-quality natural ingredients that are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and produced in the UK.
Instead of kitchen towels, we supply reusable cleaning cloths, and our cottages feature recycling bins and food waste recycling options. cleaning team utilizes washable cloths to minimize single-use products, while we use locally sourced kiln-dried hardwood for our hot tubs and log burners to reduce smoke emissions. To minimize unnecessary journeys, we bulk buy and combine deliveries, and we actively recommend public transport and local walking routes to encourage reduced car travel.
Grounds & Wildlife
We maintain two acres of land with rare breed sheep, which has cut our mowing by 60%, leading to reduced fuel consumption and noise. Our dedication to bird habitats resulted in the installation of bird and owl boxes and the restoration of a natural pond, creating nesting spaces for moorhens and our domestic ducks, who provide fresh eggs for guests.
In past four years, we have rewilded half an acre of land, allowing nature to flourish and supporting diverse wildlife. To ensure the sustainability of our orchards, we have planted fruit trees over the last two years and have added countless roses, and plants to benefit bees.
We have improved access and safety on the right of way, encouraging both locals and guests to enjoy this beautiful countryside and the benefits of fresh air and.
